So your Stainless is looking less than best ?

This is no problem and very easy to fix,

It may surprise you to know that stainless steel isn't actually 'Stainless' and will lose its shine over time. New Zealand's harsh marine environment, constant exposure to UV light, cold , heat and damp will over time change its once shiny finish to a flat matt look.

There are several ways to reapply the finish, Hand polishing, Mechanical polishing or Electro polishing:

Hand Polishing;

is the easiest way to return the materials finish. As supplied, stainless steel usually comes in a 'brushed' finish which has the appearance of very small fine lines running along the materials length. Because of these uniform lines, any scratches or marks running in a different direction ('Against the grain') will be very obvious. To return the material to its 'Brushed' finish the we recommend the following:

Using a Scotchbrite pad (supplied in our furniture maintenance packages, or available from any supermarket) and a supply of running water, rub the Stainless steel in the direction of the original 'brushed lines' using liberal amounts of water (we recommend a garden hose flowing onto the scotchbrite pad), ensure that you rub in one smooth motion from one end to the other without stopping. It may take time to remove deeper scratches or marks from the material. Once you are satisfied with the finish - simply hose down the areas polished.

Mechanical Polishing;

Is achieved by using an electric polishing machine fitted with a specialized polishing wheel, it will produce a finish identical to the materials original finish and is an excellent way to remove deep scratches and marks. This is the process used by Imagineering and if required we can re polish items that have been damaged, simply contact us for more information.

Electro Polishing;

Is were the finished and fully welded item is lowered into a chemical solution where by the top layer of the Stainless steel is eaten away, completely removing any imperfections or marks, this process is available from Imagineering and can be applied to any Stainless steel items, please contact us for more information.

Once any scratches are removed or if you simply want to bring your table frames back to a high shine - a rag with CRC or similar light oil wiped over the frame will acheive this.
